1. You should consider the
price. After all the cost must fit your budget.
2. The plan must include enough
space for your website, but too much space is pointless unless you
plan on enlarging your site.
3. The plan should include enough
bandwidth to insure each visitor will be able to enjoy your site.
4. The plan must support the
types of files your site is built in. For example if your site has
aspx or php pages a plan that does not support those file types
would be pointless.
5. If you designed your site
using a program such as Microsoft Front Page you must make sure
the hosting plan supports Front Page Extensions.
6. If you want your site to
incorporate mail accounts make sure the plan offers enough mail
accounts to fit your needs. For example if your company has 10
employees a plan with 5 mail accounts would not do.
7. The hosting provider
should be reliable. As a rule more than 1% server downtime is unacceptable.
A good hosting provider will have around 99.6% server uptime.
8. If you plan on using the
plan for a retail site or any business the will need to collect
credit card information such as a shopping cart, the plan should
support SSL (secure server).
9. If you plan on managing
your site, the plan should include a control panel. This will make
it possible to manage your site easily.
10. Technical support is one
of the most important parts of a plan. No matter if your an expert
or beginner, technical support will always come in handy.
